Can I get an update on this as, at the time, there were outstanding cases. I’d be interested to understand if they’ve been resolved and how many officers in the PSNI, now, have faced these types of allegations in the last 30 months?

Based on cases within the last three years, what has been the average time taken from point of allegation of misconduct to point of resolution, whether it’s a sanction or deemed to be unfounded?

Can you put a cost against this by way of how much we’ve paid officers suspended for any length of time while an investigation was conducted?

Answer

Of those 30 cases which we advised where still ongoing in our previous response, 13 have since been concluded.

During the past 30 months a total of 78 officers have been reported to Professional Standards Department for allegations of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and rape.

For cases reported in the past 3 years it has taken an average of 194 days to bring them to conclusion.

The total cost of suspension in relation to the officers involved in these offences has been £1,600,135. All suspensions are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that the officer’s suspension is still proportionate and necessary.
