As a public authority, the Northern Ireland Policing Board has statutory duties to promote equality of opportunity and good relations across a range of categories outlined in Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
In accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, we promote positive attitudes towards disabled people and encourage the participation of disabled people in public life.
The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland recommends that public authorities produce an Audit of Inequalities to provide a picture of the social and economic inequalities that provide the context for our work and as the basis of Equality and Disability Action Plans to address inequalities relevant to our role through policies, programmes and services.
The Northern Ireland Policing Board is fully committed to carrying out these duties. We are currently in the process of revising our Equality and Disability Plans. The current plans can be found in the publication section here.
