Evaluating & matching secondees
The Department requesting the secondment attach an application form to be completed by the applicant. The hosting department select the successful candidate through their own process.
All secondment opportunities are posted on our intranet site POINT. Police Officers and Police Staff may apply for relevant posted opportunities for which they are eligible, however release would be subject to operational and organisational need and any applications must have initial support at Head of Branch/Superintendent/Grade 7 level at the application stage.
Approval to release successful candidates would be considered by the relevant Head of Department at ACC/ACO level, upon receipt of confirmation of offer from the host organisation, along with local senior management support for release.
How NIPB can be kept in the secondment loop
The NIPB are advised of the appointment of senior ranks and grades following the Senior Management Appointments Panel (SMAP).
