PSNI has discussed the issue of information sharing with our colleagues in An Garda Síochána, but have concluded it is not possible as the regulations in both jurisdictions are silent on this matter.
Our legal advice is that there is no provision for prosecuting people not from the respective jurisdictions. Changes to the regulations in both jurisdictions would be required. This is a matter for the Northern Ireland Executive.
