Assaults on police officers – PSNI to provide the survey questions and some detail on NI compared to other UK police services.

  • What is your rank?
  • What is your grade (or equivalent)?
  • Which Department do you work in?
  • What is your Role or which of the following best describe your role?
  • What gender are you?
  • What is your length of service?
  • Have you been assaulted in the course of your work in the past twelve months?
  • In relation to the most recent time you have been assaulted in the course of your work, please answer the following questions.
    • What level of injury did you sustain as a result of the assault?
    • In which of the following locations did the assault take place?
  • Prior to attending the incident were you informed by Contact Management/your Supervisor/a colleague that either violence was ongoing at the incident, had taken place at the incident, or that any of the persons involved were flagged as ‘Violent’ or known to be violent?
  • If you feel comfortable doing so, please briefly outline the circumstances of the assault.
  • Who investigated the assault against you?Did you receive any ‘Victim Updates’?
  • Did your supervising officer speak to you after the incident about any welfare considerations for yourself?
  • If you feel comfortable doing so, could you please comment on the impact this incident has had on your wellbeing
  • Were you absent from work as a result?
  • Was a 23/10 (Injury on Duty report) submitted?
  • How many times have you been assaulted in total in the course of your work during the past 12 months?
  • Have you received Personal Safety Programme (PSP) training from the organisation?
  • Do you feel that you require PSP training to perform your role?
  • When did you last attend PSP Training?
  • Do you feel that the amount of PSP training you receive is sufficient to perform your current role?
  • If a respondent indicated that they felt the amount of PSP training received is insufficient to perform their role, they were asked the following question:

    • Do you feel that the type of PSP training you receive is suitable for you to perform your current role?
