Question

1. How much money was spent on food for PSNI officers in 2024 from the service, and what did this equate to per meal? I ask because I genuinely think a food truck, akin to that run by the Red Cross for the NIFRS would be a fraction of the cost. And that leads to my second question;

2. Can we see a cost benefit analysis paper for using a designated food truck as opposed to contracting in meals?

Answer

1. The cost of Operational Catering for PSNI officers in 2024 was £267,779. The average cost for the provision of a breakfast meal was £6-£7 and for a main meal was £16-£18. This includes the supply of bottled water.

2. In 2025-26, we will be preparing a business case for the provision of catering services as the current contract is coming to an end. As part of this analysis, we will plan to include an in-house offering based on the type of model described.
