Audit & Risk Management Committee

The main responsibilities of the Audit and Risk Management Committee are:

  1. To monitor reports on financial audits of the police service and make recommendations to the Board.
  2. To monitor  year-end financial statements for the PSNI, from an audit perspective, making recommendations as appropriate.
  3. To receive reports on the work of the PSNI Audit and Risk Committee and regularly report  any issues of concern back through the Board .
  4. To monitor occurrences of fraud or potential fraud in PSNI.
  5. To monitor Directly Awarded Contracts made by PSNI.
  6. To monitor the implementation of recommendations  made by the Northern Ireland Audit Office in respect of PSNI.
  7. To review the Corporate Governance and Risk Management arrangements of the Board and  ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place to reduce or eliminate risk.
  8. To review the annual Governance Statement .
  9. To approve  the Audit Strategy and Internal Audit Programme, ensuring effective and efficient controls within the Board .
  10. To monitor the implementation of recommendations from internal/external Audit reports.  
  11. To consider year-end financial statements for the Board, including commitments to PCSPs and make recommendations to the Board as appropriate.
  12. To review reports on the financial audits of Policing and Community Safety Partnerships and make recommendations to the Partnership Committee.
  13. To monitor occurrences of fraud or potential fraud in NIPB.
  14. To monitor Directly Awarded Contracts in respect of NIPB.
  15. To periodically review the Members Gifts and Hospitality Policy and Register.
